FOBS Easter colouring competition 🐣💐🌈
This year, alongside our Easter raffle, FOBS ran a special Easter colouring competition for all year groups to take part in if they wished. We had lots of lovely entries that had been carefully thought through, some linking to our Christian ethos and what we know about how Easter is celebrated in church.
Here are all of the children who entered with their Easter gift, along with our winner and their lovely prize.
Well done all!
KS2 Cross Country 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♀️💨
Congratulations go to all 20 pupils from our Yr4, 5 and 6 classes that competed yesterday in the IPSSA cross country event at the Royal Hospital School.
The location and weather made the most beautiful backdrop to the afternoon of racing.
With over 150 children running in each year group race, our Bramford pupils did so well. With tough competition - they all gave it their all! We hope they all enjoyed the experience and representing their school alongside others. The groups definitely demonstrated many of our ACE particles!
With tough competition, Bramford runners had finishing times that ranged from being amazingly ACE - 100th to an astonishing 18th, 17th, 16th and 8th place in the race!!!
We wait to hear from IPSSA how we did as a team against the other schools there. But we are tremendously proud of the children’s enthusiastic, team spirit and courage to run the way they did. It was an aspiration afternoon.
Thank you to all parents who transported and cheered on our runners. We could not get involved in these events without you.
Joseph and the amazing technicoloured dream coat 🌈
Both Year 3 and Year 4 have been working incredibly hard with their teachers to put on a fantastic performance of Joseph and his amazing technicolour dream coat. They worked hard to learn their lines, song lyrics and stage directions, supported by a fabulous team of lower KS2 staff.
It was wonderful to watch it in it's full glory with rainbow lights, spectacular scenery and elaborate costumes!
Well done to you all, what a show stopping performance!
Colchester Castle trip! 🏰
Today both our KS1 classes went on a special adventure to Colchester Castle. Having enjoyed their topic of Crowns and Castles this term, both classes were excited to explore a real castle for themselves. They got to learn about lots of different people who might have lived in a castle and their jobs and responsibilities. They had fun naming the different parts of the castle with their newly learnt vocabulary and were excited to climb the spiral stair case to the castle roof!
KS1 were incredibly well behaved and received lots of positive comments from parent helpers and castle staff members!
Easter Church Service 🐣💐
On Tuesday afternoon, the whole school enjoyed a walk in the sunshine down the church for our Easter service.
We were joined by parents and carers to hear all about how people celebrated Easter across the world. We heard the Easter story being told by different year groups and learnt how Easter is a special time for Christians.
Lots of classes were delighted to spot their Easter gardens around the church that they had been busy creating during the week!
We are most definitely now ready for our Easter break and will remember the symbol of the empty tomb whilst enjoy our chocolate eggs!
A visit from a Paramedic! 🚑
On Tuesday, our Year 5 tortoises had a visit from one of our parents who is a paramedic. He came to talk about being a paramedic and linked his work to the children's learning about the circulatory system topic in Science.
They used stethoscopes to listen to our heart beat. Took our pulse, had our oxygen levels and heart rate measured and Mrs M even had her blood pressure taken (surprisingly not too bad for a busy school day!). Mr Harvey answered lots of questions about the job ..and yes, driving an ambulance is one of the many highlights of a rewarding career helping people!
This term in Tortoises! 🐢
Tortoises have been enjoying lots of learning this term. Fractions and long multiplication have been a highlight of our maths journey and everyone has risen to the challenge with an ACE attitude. In English we have been reading Kensuke's Kingdom and used the author's wonderful language to inspire our own setting descriptions as well as being hooked into the story, wanting to know more.
Science has seen us learning about the circulatory system and how to keep ourselves healthy and we can blame the ancient Mayan Civilisation for our love of chocolate as they were the first to use the cacao beans to make a delicious hot chocolate drink! We have been very active in PE and tested our heart rate before and after activities.
