Primary School
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year Six's performance of Goodbye My Friend was amazing last week. The story of four friends looking back over their time at primary school was both hilarious and moving at different times! It was lovely to be able to give the children an opportunity to show their acting and speaking skills. The audience particularly loved the re-enactment of a reception nativity play! Thank you to all the Year Six pupils, parents and school staff for all that you did to make this happen.
With the cost of living rising, we would like to make families aware of Ipswich Top Up Shops - https://www.ipswichtopupshops.co.uk/
This is an organisation thats main aim is to alliviate food property and you do not need a referral to use the service, like the food bank. It costs £2 for a large jute bag of fresh, good quality shopping. There are a quite a few places/churches in Ipswich that provide this service.
Owls class enjoyed their 'It's Your Move' session on Friday, where they explored ways to survive and ways to thrive at high school. Thank you to Rev Eric for coming to judge the tie-tying competition and for speaking to the class at the end. Thank you also to both St Mary's Church and Bramford Methodist Church for buying each Year 6 child an It's Your Move book again this year.
Reception and Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their summer trip to the Foxburrow Farm. We explored the meadow; flower spotting and used large nets to gather wildlife. In the sheltered woods we loved naming and hugging our group tree. We made mud paint, used mirrors and carefully wove with natural resources. Pond dipping was a firm favourite, lots of interesting creatures were caught such as the rare Great crested newt and we used a magnifying catcher to look carefully in awe at our findings!
Years 3 & 4 enjoyed a day time travelling back to Tudor times with their recent visit to Kentwell Hall. They learnt what skills were needed to live in this era and had a go themselves!
On Monday 4th July we had a visit from Benjamin Dean, whose book 'Me, my Dad and the end of the rainbow' we have been reading this term. It was great to meet a real author and thanks to Booktrust, each pupil has a copy of Benjamin's book to keep. Maci, Daisy N and Marile have written this summary of the visit:
Benjamin Dean introduced himself by showing us pictures of his childhood and newer photos. He then described how his books were developed. Next we created our own story ideas and characters before getting our books signed.
