    Hedgehogs share morning 🦔🌈

Hedgehogs had a lovely morning sharing their learning with their parents. They enjoyed using their ICT skills to find the 54 countries in Africa, making play dough continents, making African necklaces, reading African stories and unscrambling African animal names. Thank you to all who came, we loved having you!

    Tortilla making! 🌮

Today we continued our learning about the Maya civilisation and linked this to DT/cooking. The Maya people grew and ate corn or maize. They even worshipped a maize god. We looked at pictures of maize / corn on the cob, handled dried corn kernels, tasted tinned sweetcorn and made our own tortillas using corn meal, olive oil, salt and water. I was impressed with how well the children taught each other how to make the tortillas and how sensible and safe they were while cooking.

    Sun safe assembly 😎🌞

We had a special assembly yesterday which was delivered by a special visitor from cancer support, Suffolk. They came in to educate us all about staying safe in the sun. We discussed wearing protective clothing, wearing factor 50 sun cream, remembering our sun glasses, staying hydrated and seeking shade. We all listened beautifully and learnt some new things about protecting ourselves from the sun. Some of the adults were surprised to hear that some suncreams have to be used within 12 months!

I wonder how many of the children came home to talk to you about the following sun safe rules:

Slip on a shirt, Slop on the 30+ sunscreen, Slap on a hat, Seek shade, Slide on some sunglasses.
