Primary School
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have been learning about counties and the countries of the GB in Geography and enjoying filling in maps and using atlases.
In science we are continuing to learn about light and classifying materials according to whether they are opaque, transparent or translucent.
In English we had a look inside the suitcase to look for clues as to where it might have been from and what our next writing book might be about.
We also enjoyed the visit from the Olympian athlete where we worked hard to complete different circuit activities!
Year 5 enjoyed their STEM session with Dom, Michala and the Sphero Bolt kit. They used the tablets to code the Spheros, making them move, turn, light up and make sounds. Year 5 also learned about how coding skills relate to lots of jobs we might want to do in the future. Dom and Michala told Year 5 all about the large variety of jobs that will be available in a few years as Sizewell C power station is built. There will be apprenticeships for 16 and 18 year olds in lots of areas. It’s been an inspiring morning
We have started this term by beginning our voyage into space. Through exposing the children to this topic within writing, reading, science and topic, we hope to dive deep and shoot for the stars with our learning. Our maths unit is also progressing, as we learn about: percentage, fraction and decimals; consolidating previous learning. The children will also practise their arithmetic skills each week, where results will be examined and gap-filling can continue, as well as much more coverage across the curriculum. We look forward to demonstrating our learning this term.
The children in Foxes and Woodpeckers have been immersed in the magic of winter as they explored the snowy weather outdoors. Our youngest learners delighted in the sensory experience of snow — feeling its texture, noticing how it melts, and using descriptive language to talk about what they could see, hear, and feel. They experimented with mark‑making in the snow, observed footprints, prints left by snow angels and the feeling the crunch under their feet.
Year 1 children continued thinking further about the winter weather by creating list of adjectives to describe the snow and ice such as 'sparkly', 'frozen' and 'soft' which they then used to create a piece of writing about the winter weather.
