  Tortilla making! 🌮 Today we continued our learning about the Maya civilisation and linked this to DT/cooking. The Maya people grew and ate corn or maize. They even worshipped a maize god. We looked at pictures of maize / corn on the cob, handled dried corn kernels, tasted tinned sweetcorn and made our own tortillas using corn meal, olive oil, salt and water. I was impressed with how well the children taught each other how to make the tortillas and how sensible and safe they were while cooking.
