Bramford CEVC
Primary School
The U11 boys’ football team were in action yesterday in their second-round Owain Richards Cup match against Rushmere Primary School, a very organised and skilful side.
The first half did not quite go our way and we conceded two goals. However, the Bramford boys showed great determination and never gave up. Their hard work paid off when they scored a fantastic goal, chipping the keeper and keeping their hopes very much alive going into the second half.
The team returned after the break knowing they needed two goals to reach the quarter-finals – and they delivered. One goal came from a well-worked corner, and the other was a powerful strike straight into the back of the net. Suddenly the momentum was with us and it became our game to hold on to.
The whole match was exciting to watch. In final minutes were no exception when a penalty was awarded to Rushmere. Our goalkeeper stepped up brilliantly, making a confident and professional save to keep us ahead. The match finished 3–2 to Bramford, securing a well-earned place in the quarter-finals.
As a school, we are extremely proud of the boys who took part. They showed resilience, teamwork and great sportsmanship throughout the match and represented applying their ACE particles.
Well done to everyone involved - parents who as always supported enthusiastically from the side lines and Mr Vickers for his expertise.
Even more excitingly, both our U11 boys’ and girls’ teams have now reached the quarter-finals. We are looking forward to more exciting matches ahead!
