We were super lucky to have Max from the Windrush Society to come and visit our school. The children listened carefully to the assembly and learnt a lot of facts. He shared lots of information about the Windrush generation and held workshop sessions for each class. We learnt about why people came and the difficulties people faced from many areas.
Some key facts that we learnt: ‘They went on a boat which took 500 people. The boat was called the Windrush’ and ‘The boat journey took 5 weeks’.
